  11.  AB    In an African population of 292 women, hospitalised for psychiatric
  12.        reasons, the seropositivity for HIV was clearly found higher than in the
  13.        general corresponding population; this was particularly significant for
  14.        first hospitalisations; furthermore, the seropositivity became twice as
  15.        high in the group hospitalised several times. The HIV, known for
  16.        neurotropism, seems responsible for a psychic fragility factor,
  17.        favorising psychiatric breakdowns as well as their recurrences. No
  18.        specific psychiatric diagnosis appears to be related to the seropositive
  19.        patients. This study suggest that psychiatric breakdowns are already
  20.        favoured in the period preceeding immunodeficiency symptoms (AIDS or
  21.        ARC).
